US Women's Index

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, founded in 2011, has a mission to support the participation of women around the world in peace-building, post-conflict reconstruction, strengthening economies, health and prosperity.

This new report U.S. Women, Peace and Security Index ranks U.S. States into The Best and Worst States to Be a Woman based on aspects of “women’s autonomy and empowerment as agents at home, in the community, and in the economy and society.” The indicators were in the categories of inclusion, justice and security.

The best performer states are Massachusetts, Connecticut and the District of Columbia while the worst performers are Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. Read the full report at https://giwps.georgetown.edu/usa-index/
